Below are some helpful FAQs that I get from a lot of brides. This hopefully will help you answer questions you have about booking, what to wear and more! But if it doesn’t, feel free to shoot us an email!
1. I love your work and want to talk to you more about photography for my wedding. What should I do?
Shoot me an email if you have specific questions. We can always set up an appointment to chat about everything and to help you make a decision about who to hire. Although meetings are helpful for both of us, they are not required in order to book us for your wedding. I understand that a lot of you live out of town and meetings just aren’t possible. We can handle everything over email if necessary.
2. What do you bring to a meeting?
I bring an album of 4×6 photos, some loose photos for you to handle, and, if available, a sample wedding album/coffee table book. I’ve recently switched vendors and do not have new studio samples designed yet. I will also bring a bridal packet which includes a contract and information that answers questions and helps you plan engagements, bridals, etc once we’ve book.
3. I’ve met with you or talked to you and would love to book you as my wedding photographer. What’s next?
Great! We’re excited you chose us to capture your special day! Send me an email letting me know and to make sure we’re still available. If you’ve met with me and have received a bridal packet, complete the contract and return to me with your deposit. If we haven’t met, I’ll mail you the packet with the contract and information inside.
4. When should we have engagement photos taken?
It all depends on what you plan to do with the photos. If you plan to submit an announcement of your engagement to the local newspaper, you might want to schedule them pretty soon after you get engaged. Also, if you are going to send out Save the Dates, those are usually sent out 6 months before the wedding. Therefore, photos would need to be taken about 7 months before to allow time for editing and printing time for the save the dates. If you only plan to use engagement photos to set up prints around your reception, they can be done as little as a month before the wedding. Ultimately, its up to you as a couple and what works best with our schedule. On average, most people do them a few months before the wedding.
5. When should I have bridal portraits taken?
We schedule bridal portraits no later than one month before the wedding, unless your dress will not be ready sooner. I know that usually your dress isn’t ready until a month or 2 before the wedding so we can’t do portraits too far in advance. So we just try to get them scheduled as soon as your dress is available. Limiting it to no later than 1 month before allows for editing time, as well as time to get large prints to set up at the reception.
6. What should we wear for our engagement photos?
Whatever you want! You know the days where everyone matched in the photos? With the white button down shirt and jeans? Those days are OVER! UNLESS…that’s your style. And if it is, that’s ok too. But if you want to wear color, layers, hats, jewelry, scarfs, etc..bring it on. I beg you! And matching is not necessary. Be yourself. Dress in what makes you feel your best. A sassy skirt with heels or a comfy pair of jeans and flip flops. These are your photos and you want them to reflect you as a couple. I’m hoping to post a sample picture below of a great wardrobe combo.
